For my lining material a use a voile fabric, pronounced: [VOYL].Β  Β Voile is a soft, sheer fabric.Β  The term is French for veil because it is so airy and lightweight.Β  The voile fabric I use is made 100% organic cotton and sourced from Organic Cotton Plus.Β  This company was the first in the US to be fully GOTS-certified and creates 100% organically certified fabrics for individuals and small businesses.

There are a few ways to ensure a one-of-a-kind piece will fit you well.Β Β

  • Using a soft measuring tape, if possible, take all of the measurements on yourself that are provided in the listing.Β  You can either compare these to the model measurements for a fit reference or double the measurements that are provided for the piece itself and compare them to your own.Β  you can also use a piece of twine and measure the lengths out on a conventional ruler.Β
  • Additionally, you can measure an item that you currently have in your wardrobe that fits you well.Β  Lay the item flat and take the same measurements that are provided in the listing.Β  You can then compare the two for an accurate fit reference.Β Β
  • Lastly, if you are concerned about fit, please reach out to me through the "Contact" page before purchasing.Β

I have to credit my sewing abilities to a long line of seamstresses and quilters on the maternal side of my family.Β  Throughout my childhood, my mom (who was taught how to sew by her mother) would hand make most so many special pieces of clothing for me ranging from holiday dresses to Christmas pajamas and Halloween costumes.Β  I began sewing for myself during my high school years.Β  I loved thrifting, but the clothes that IΒ would find didn't always fit me well.Β  I started off with simple alternations to customize pieces to my liking or size and moved on from there over the years.Β  During this time my mom also taught me how to read patterns and other helpful sewing techniques.Β  The next step in my sewing journey came after becoming a mother.Β  I began sewing cute little dresses and special pieces for my own daughter.Β  Creating pieces for her further inspired me to begin sewing for myself again and eventually for friends and family.Β  There's something about handmade pieces that hold such a special place in my heart.Β  I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to continue sharing them.Β Β
